My team and I recently visited the Town of De Beque. We had the distinct pleasure of touring and visiting with the town manager, staff, and many of the dedicated small business owners who form the backbone of their community. This visit was a strong reminder that the heart of economic development lies in the hands of those who are actively shaping, growing, and investing in their localities.
De Beque, like many other small towns in Mesa County and beyond, faces its share of challenges. Yet, it’s the commitment and resilience of its local entrepreneurs that continuously kindle potential within the community. It’s evident that the core strength of this community springs from its own people. Their vision and determination are not just uplifting their lives; they are forging a prosperous future for the entire town by creating jobs and opportunities.
This focus on nurturing local business and community-led economic development mirrors the daily ethos at the Business Incubator Center. It brings me immense pride to announce that two of our businesses are poised to graduate from our Incubator Intensive Program, ready to embark on the next chapter of their growth. Their success marks not just a personal victory but a triumph for our entire community. These businesses began as mere ideas and have grown into fundamental pillars of our local economy, generating employment and creating ripple effects that will be felt for years.
Small businesses have a unique power. They are the cradle of innovation, builders of wealth, and, most importantly, they reinvest that wealth back into their communities. In an era often dominated by large corporations, it’s the small businesses, like those we encountered in De Beque, that underscore the foundational pillars of prosperity: perseverance, resilience, and a strong community spirit.
As we celebrate these milestones, both in De Beque and at our Incubator, we are reminded of the essence of their success, a shared belief in something larger than any individual, the belief in the power of community and an unwavering dedication to crafting a future that we all aspire to share.
The future of economic development is local. It’s embodied by small businesses carving their paths and local entrepreneurs leading the way.
Onward to a future rich with potential,
